Bishnumaya got a new life after 2 years

Bishnumaya Kafle, who suffered a broken hip fracture after falling at her house yard at the age of seventy, is happy after treatment at the proposed Charikot Hospital.

Pain has not subsided yet, Bishnumaya said since she came to know that the troublesome foot will get better after treatment, and recover completely. Bishnumaya says she has found a new life with the help of her family, hospital doctors and all.

Bishnumaya got injured after she fell off at the doorstep of her house in Dolakha Tamakoshi rural municipality Ward-3. Many suggested taking her to Kathmandu for treatment but due to financial constraints it was not possible so, upon hearing that orthopaedic treatment is done better at proposed Charikot Hospital she is admitted to Charikot based hospital for treatment said Bhagwati Kafle Bishnumaya’s daughter in law.

Bhagwati said that the hip bone was broken on February 20th, but due to various reasons, she was brought to proposed Charikot Hospital for treatment only on February 23rd. Experts had suggested it would cost around Rs. 3 to 4 hundred thousand had she been taken to Kathmandu for treatment, but it just cost around 18 thousand rupees here in our own place proposed Charikot Hospital said Bhagwati Kafle.

Bhagwati said that the senior citizen Bishnumaya had been ill for some time due to asthma and cough now the problem of broken pelvis both problems are treated for free in the hospital. Proposed Charikot Hospital is very good, free treatment can be easily obtained under the care of a specialist doctor – Bhagwati added.

The hip operation of the senior citizen Bishnumaya was carried out by the team of Dr Mandeep Pathak, and MDGP doctor Tulakrishna Gupta. Doctor Tulakrishna Gupta said Bishnumaya was treated with a sheet of steel on the hip with an operation.

Dr Gupta said that Bishnumaya’s age caused some difficulty in treatment and added that regular physiotherapy will ease off the pain as well. Dr Gupta said that treating Bishnumaya in Kathmandu would have cost at least Rs. 3 to 4 hundred thousand, but at the proposed Charikot Hospital, all other treatments and medicines were free except the cost of steel sheet.

Dr Gupta said fractured tibia and arm bones are treated for free but the that the patients with problems in joints and other complicated fractures are required to install steel sheets which will add some costs to the patients in the proposed Charikot Hospital, with the help of Nepal Orthopedic Association.
