Monarchy cannot be reinstated through slogans in the streets: DPM Pokhrel
Kathmandu, September 20: Deputy PM and Defense Minister Ishwor Pokhrel has said monarchy cannot be reinstated through slogans in the streets.
Addressing a special function organized to mark the Constitution and National Day at Birtamode of Jhapa today, DPM Pokhrel said the present constitution is fully inclusive and proportional.
He also said that as the constitution is a dynamic document, it can be amended as per the need and relevance. He also urged all to get united to defend the constitution as it is one of the best in the world. Meantime, he also directed the public office holders not to delay to address people’s need and warned them of action if any public office holder found to have been indulged in any form of irregularities.
Provincial governments in all seven provinces also marked the Constitution day today organizing special functions.
On the occasion of Constitution day today, President Bidhya Devi Bhandari has exempted remaining jail term of 260 jailbirds and pardoned 22 prisoners.
