Labour Day marked: PM Oli urges political parties and social organizations to get united for country’s development

Kathmandu, May 1: 130th International Labour day has been marked in Nepal as well with various programmes today.

Addressing a program organized by Joint Trade Union Coordination Centre in Kathmandu to mark the day, Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has urged all the political parties and social organizations to get united for country’s development campaign by giving up vested interests and prejudice.

PM Oli made such request to them citing the country is moving in the path of economic development. He stressed on the need for national unity based on social justice and equality to achieve economic prosperity.

Similarly, on the same occasion, Nepal Communist Party Chair Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ has said that all the changes in the country are the result of unity and consensus among political parties, hence, there is no alternative to joining hands for the country’s development and prosperity.

Likewise, Minister for Labour and Social Security Gokarna Bista said that the government brought social security programs aiming to stop youngsters’ brain drain situation which could help the country’s development.

Meanwhile, Nepali Congress Vice- President Bimalendra Nidhi demanded that separate commission should be formed to guarantee the workers’ security. Similarly, addressing a programme organised by the Nepal Trade Union Congress State 2 committee in Birgunj to mark the same day,  Nepali Congress Vice-President Bijay Kumar Gachchhadar has said the overthrow of the Rana regime and the Panchayat system from the country was possible on the back support of workers’ movements.

Meantime, he urged trade union leaders to focus their future agenda on making sure that Nepali workers’ minimum salary reaches Rs 20,000 per month. Likewise, Nepali Congress leader Prakashman Singh addressing a programme in Kathmandu expressed his party’s commitment for the labour rights.

Similarly, Nepali Congress Spokesperson Bishow Prakash Sharma said that the country can head to prosperity only if there is a culture of honouring laobur and have justifiable pay to their works.

Today itself, addressing a programme in Chitwan, former minister Surendra Pandey said that the government is committed to the security of the labourers and their rights.

Meantime, Ratriya Prajatantra Party’s chair Kamal Thapa addressing a programme organized by his party’s labour wing in Kathmandu today blamed the government of failing to meet the expectations of the labourers. He also said that the government’s activities have been a catalyst to increase dissatisfaction of labourers.

Addressing a programme in Bhaktapur today, Nepal Laoburer and peasant party’s chair Narayanman Bijukchhe expressed his dissatisfaction saying the country has not been able to move ahead as per the sentiment of the constitution. He also said that the country won’t be prosperous unless internal capital has not been developed. He also said the country faces a dire need of honest and nationalist leaders at the moment.
