EU member states to reduce gas consumption

July 27, Kathmandu: The European Union member states have decided to reduce their gas consumption in case Russia drastically reduced its gas export to the region.
After more than a week of discussion, the member states of the European Union have decided to reduce gas consumption by 15 per cent from August to March, according to the BBC.
Officials have said that this provision, which is currently voluntary, will be implemented compulsorily in the event of an energy crisis.
According to the European Union, some countries will be exempted from this provision.
The European Union has mentioned that member states that do not have alternative energy sources such as Malta, Cyprus, and Ireland do not have to follow the provision.
