Nepal to receive $659 Million from USAID

April 15, Kathmandu: Nepal is to receive $ 659 million equivalent to Rs 79.71 billion grant assistance from the United States Agency for International Development (USAID).
Likewise, the World Bank Group’s International Development Association is providing Rs 18 billion ($150 million) as concessional loans.
The meeting of the Council of Ministers held on the 13th of April had decided to accept the assistance.
Informing about the cabinet decision, the Minister for Communication and Information Technology, and Government Spokesperson, Gyanendra Bahadur Karki, said the government had also decided to take initiatives for acquiring around 14.24 Hectares of land at Sanni Triveni Rural Municipality in Kalikot district for the Phukot Karnali Semi-reservoir Hydroelectricity Project.
Similarly, the meeting decided to approve the resignation tendered by the National Housing Company Limited chairperson Ram Aadhar Kapar
On a different note, Communication Minister Karki clarified that the government had not taken any decision on the matter of providing public holidays for two days a week.
