Minister for water supply Chaudhary inaugurates Melamchi water project

Melamchi: Melamchi water has been diverted to the tunnel from today.

Minister for Water Supply Umakanta Chaudhary inaugurated the project by diverting water from Diversion Gate No. 1 and opening Gate No. 38 today.

Minister Chaudhary said that he was proud to be able to divert water as per his commitment. He said that the people of Kathmandu would get drinking water in the next few days.

Executive Director of the Melamchi Drinking Water Development Committee Basudev Poudel said that 265 litres per second of water were poured into the tunnel today.

The Melamchi Drinking Water Project was damaged by the floods on the 15^th of June.
