Normalcy returns to Madhesh following agreement over Golbazar incident

August 3, Kathmandu: Public life and business activities across Madhesh Province are gradually normalising following days of heightened regional tension.

The region experienced severe unrest starting Thursday after a youth, identified as Ganesh Yadav, died during security firing in Golbazar, Siraha. Yadav was participating in demonstrations linked to earlier clashes originating in Kaptanganj, Sunsari.

Tensions eased after Home Minister Sudhan Gurung reached a written agreement with the victim’s family on Friday. Following the consensus, local administrations across Dhanusha, Siraha, and Saptari lifted curfews and prohibitory orders.

Transportation services have resumed, markets have reopened, and local authorities continue to urge the public to disregard rumors and help preserve communal harmony.
