NC demands formation of judicial panel to probe recent violent incidents

Kathmandu: The Nepali Congress (NC) Parliamentary Party meeting has called for the formation of a judicial probe committee to carry out a fair investigation into the recent violent incidents that occurred in Sunsari, Siraha, Dhanusha and Parsa districts.

Stating that the attention of the party was drawn towards the incidents, a meeting of the NC Parliamentary Party held on Monday expressed sorrow over the deaths and injuries of many people in the incidents.

After the meeting, the NC Chief Whip Basana Thapa said, “The NC strongly demands that the government form a judicial probe committee for an impartial investigation into the incidents. We also appeal to everyone to prevent such violent incidents from occurring in future.”

The meeting concluded that such incidents disrupt social harmony at a time when mutual goodwill, fraternity and social harmony have been maintained by respecting each other’s religions, cultures and traditions for centuries.

Urging the government to do everything for the treatment of the injured ones, the NC has appealed to all sides to maintain social harmony, religious tolerance and restraint, not to allow such violent incidents to recur in future.

Thapa stated that the meeting also passed the ‘NC Parliamentary Party Lawmakers Coordination Framework ‘, prepared intending to further enhancing the relations among citizens, lawmakers and parliament, as well as the ‘procedure related to appointment of member-secretary for House of Representatives and National Assembly members-2083’.

The meeting also paid tribute to NC senior leader late Gopal Man Shrestha and former minister Rajendra Kharel and passed a condolence motion.
