Minister Yadav Urges Industries to Obtain NS Mark to Strengthen Nepali Products

Kathmandu, Aug. 4: Minister for Industry, Commerce and Supplies Gauri Kumari Yadav has called on domestic industries to obtain the Nepal Standard (NS) Mark for their products, saying it is essential for promoting Nepali brands, ensuring product quality and reducing the country’s reliance on imports.

Speaking during a discussion with officials of the Department of Standards and Metrology, Minister Yadav said expanding the use of the NS Mark would help improve the competitiveness of locally manufactured goods and widen their market reach.

She stated that products bearing the NS Mark gain greater consumer trust and are better positioned to enter international markets. The government, she added, has decided to simplify the certification process and provide necessary incentives to encourage more industries to obtain the quality certification.

According to the Ministry, a range of domestically manufactured products, including cement, steel rods and tyres, have already been certified with the NS Mark. More recently, sanitary pads produced in Nepal have also received the certification.

The Minister urged industries and companies to complete the required procedures promptly to secure the NS Mark and contribute to the production and promotion of quality Nepali goods.
