HoR to Discuss Landless, Squatter Rehabilitation Today

Kathmandu, Aug. 4: The House of Representatives (HoR) is set to convene at 1:00 pm today, with the meeting scheduled to deliberate on several key agendas, including a motion of public importance concerning the rights and rehabilitation of landless and squatter communities.

During the meeting, the Minister for Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs will table, on behalf of Prime Minister Balendra Shah, the sixth annual report of the Commission for Indigenous Nationalities for the fiscal year 2081/82.

The House will also hold discussions on a motion of public importance registered by Nepali Congress parliamentary party leader Bhishma Raj Angdambe. The proposal calls for the identification, protection and rehabilitation of landless people, squatters and residents of unorganized settlements. It also seeks compensation, access to basic healthcare, food security, education for their children, and the distribution of land ownership certificates.

The motion has been supported by lawmakers Ain Bahadur Mahar, Yubraj Dulal and Aren Rai.
