Police Urge Media to Publish Only Verified Information on Child Crime Cases

Parsa, Aug. 4: The District Police Office, Parsa, has appealed to media organizations, journalists and the public to share only verified information on sensitive cases, particularly those involving crimes against children.

Police spokesperson and Deputy Superintendent of Police Chakra Bahadur Malla said only information confirmed by official sources should be disseminated, warning that unverified or misleading reports could obstruct ongoing investigations.

The appeal comes after a complaint was filed regarding an alleged crime against a minor from Radhemai Tole of Birgunj Metropolitan City-13. Police said they responded immediately by arresting Nikhil Singh Rajput, who is currently under investigation under the relevant legal provisions relating to crimes against children.

According to the police, the spread of rumours, speculation and one-sided information can negatively affect the investigation process, which is guided by principles of impartiality, independence and confidentiality during evidence collection.

DSP Malla also said the circulation of unconfirmed information could infringe on the rights of those involved and create unnecessary public confusion.

He reaffirmed that the police are investigating in a fair, transparent and lawful manner and said detailed information will be released in accordance with the law once the investigation is completed.
