Agreement to cut down 646 trees for building trauma centre
Trivedi (Nawalparasi), Feb 4: The Department of Forest and Soil Conservation and the Devchuli municipality of Nawalparasi (Bardaghat Sustapurva) district have signed an agreement to cut down trees to create a space so that the process of establishing a trauma center would be accelerated.
The trauma center will be built at Devchuli municipality-17 in the district. The recent agreement paved the way to go ahead with the construction of the health facility, which was talked about for quite a while, according to Mayor Hari Prasad Neupane. Two hectares of land have been allocated for the trauma center.
It is the forest area near the Jharahi stream of Devchuli-17. The meeting of the Council of Ministers held on July 29, 2024, had decided to provide the forest land and allow for felling trees. Following this, Devchuli municipality provided Rs 16 million to the Department of Forest and Soil Conservation to forward the undertaking.
The agreement was signed by Mayor Neupane and Chairman of Ward No. 17, Ganesh Shah, Deputy Director General of the Department, Dhananjay Lamichhane, and Undersecretary Rambalak Prasad Yadav. The trees would be cleared as per agreement so that the activities for construction would be forwarded.
Similarly, the contract for the undertaking would be proceeded through the Urban Development and Building Construction Project, Chitwan. The financial resource of Rs 100 million had already been secured for the multi-year project. —RSS
