Pakistan for expansion of parliamentary relations with Nepal: Ambassador Hashmi

Kathmandu: Ambassador of Pakistan to Nepal, Abrar H. Hashmi, has reiterated Pakistan’s desire to further expand relations between the Parliaments of Pakistan and Nepal and further bilateral cooperation in trade, tourism, education, health, culture, climate resilience, P2P and regional peace between the two countries.

During an interaction with the Pakistan-Nepal Parliamentary Friendship Group today, Ambassador Hashmi appreciated the longstanding and cordial relations between Pakistan and Nepal, rooted in shared cultural heritage, mutual respect, and regional affinity, according to a Press Release issued by the Embassy of Pakistan in Kathmandu.

The Ambassador also briefed the Group on the latest developments in Pakistan’s economy and regional situation, emphasising Pakistan’s vision for a peaceful and prosperous South Asia. He welcomed the interest of the Nepali Parliament in fostering parliamentary diplomacy and institutional linkages.

Members of the Pakistan-Nepal Parliamentary Friendship Group expressed appreciation for Pakistan’s consistent support to Nepal and expressed satisfaction over relations free of irritants and underscored the importance of parliamentary exchanges in deepening mutual understanding.

They also emphasised exploring new avenues of collaboration, particularly economic, cultural, youth, women, marginalised groups, technical support and capacity-building. The interaction was attended by honourable members of the Friendship Group, diplomats of the Pakistan Embassy and representatives of Nepal-Pakistan Friendship and Cultural Association.

On the occasion, both sides resolved to continue working together regularly for the good of the two countries, inter alia, by building stronger institutional linkages, open dialogue and enhance multifaceted relations further strengthening bonds of friendship between the two countries and the people.
