Janakpurdham Gears Up for Fifth Literature, Arts and International Drama Festival

Janakpur, Feb 14: Preparations have been completed for the fifth edition of the Janakpurdham Literature, Arts and International Drama Festival–2082 BS, which is set to begin on February 15 in Janakpurdham.

Organising a press meet today, Chairman of the Maithili Development Trust Jeevanath Chaudhary said that final arrangements for the much-awaited festival have entered the concluding phase.

The event is being organised by the Ministry of Education and Culture of Madhesh Province in coordination with the Trust and Janakpurdham Sub-Metropolitan City.

According to Chairman Chaudhary, the festival will feature in-depth discussions on 20 different themes, covering arts, literature, politics, socio-economic issues, and history. Exhibitions of paintings, books and traditional Mithila cuisine will also be major attractions.

Scholars from Nepal and India, along with noted singers and drama groups, are expected to participate in the festival.

Highlighting the Trust’s continued efforts in promoting language, literature, culture and arts, Chaudhary said the festival will feature a range of cultural activities including colourful parades with tableaux, an inaugural ceremony, school-level public speaking competitions, poetry recitals, folk dance contests, Mithila painting competitions, workshops and exhibitions on Mithila art, theatrical performances and various other cultural programmes.
