Light to moderate rainfall recorded in Kathmandu and several districts
Kathmandu, March 24: Rainfall was recorded in several districts, including Kathmandu, due to the partial influence of westerly and local winds, according to the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology.
Data from the Meteorological Forecasting Division show that Kathmandu recorded 1.2 mm of rainfall in the past hour, while Jhapa recorded the highest rainfall at 9.4 mm during the same period. Light rain has also been reported in Taplejung, Bhojpur, Nuwakot, Lamjung, Gorkha, Kaski and Kalikot.
Over the last three hours, Tanahun recorded 24.6 mm of rainfall, followed by Jhapa with 12.2 mm.
In addition to rainfall, some districts have experienced hailstorms, snowfall and gusty winds.
According to Dinkar Kayastha, Information Officer at the Meteorological Department, weather conditions remain generally cloudy in hilly and mountainous regions, including areas of Koshi Province. At the same time, the rest of the country is partly cloudy.
The Division’s evening bulletin states that light rain and snowfall, along with thunder and lightning, are occurring at one or two places in Koshi, Bagmati, Gandaki, Karnali and Sudurpaschim provinces.
The Department has forecast similar conditions for Wednesday, with generally cloudy weather expected in the hilly and mountainous regions of Koshi, Bagmati, Gandaki and Lumbini provinces. Other hilly areas will see partly cloudy skies, while most Tarai regions are likely to remain mainly clear.
There is also a possibility of light rain and snowfall with thunder and lightning at a few places in the hilly and mountainous areas of Koshi and Gandaki provinces, and at isolated locations in the remaining provinces.
