Department Steps Up Coordination to Ensure Smooth Cooking Gas Supply

Kathmandu, Feb 11 — The Department of Commerce, Supplies and Consumer Protection has said it is coordinating with concerned agencies and enforcing regulatory measures to ensure an uninterrupted supply of cooking gas.

The move comes after consumers faced difficulties in obtaining cooking gas over the past few days. The Department has urged the Nepal Oil Corporation to take necessary steps to make the supply of this daily essential smooth and effective.

It has also instructed gas marketing companies to prioritise easing supply. As part of its efforts, the Department carried out monitoring of gas bottling plants in the Kathmandu Valley and directed them to produce and distribute cooking gas in line with consumer demand.

The regulatory body has warned LP gas dealers, distributors, retailers and supply companies against hoarding, directing them to operate and supply at full production capacity.

At the same time, consumers have been requested not to stockpile cooking gas, as such practices could further disrupt normal supply.
