CoAS Sigdel Instructs Coordinated Security Measures for Safe HoR Polls

Kathmandu, Feb 11: Chief of Army Staff (CoAS) Ashok Raj Sigdel has directed the Nepali Army to work in close coordination with other security agencies and concerned stakeholders to ensure the safe and peaceful conduct of the upcoming House of Representatives (HoR) elections scheduled for March 5.

Addressing the closing session of the Divisional Commanders’ Coordination Meeting at the Army Headquarters on Wednesday, CoAS Sigdel instructed officials to mobilise security forces in line with the Integrated Election Security Plan–2082 BS, according to the Nepal Army’s Directorate of Public Relations and Information.

The Army Chief emphasised the importance of unity and teamwork among all ranks while carrying out their assigned responsibilities. He also appreciated the effective role played by divisional commanders in maintaining security at their respective levels.

The two-day meeting, which began on Tuesday, reviewed the prevailing security situation and assessed training and logistical preparations related to the upcoming elections. Participants also discussed other contemporary issues.

Senior NA officials, including the Chief of General Staff and other Lieutenant Generals, attended the closing session.

The Nepal Army will be deployed as part of the overall security arrangement for the March 5 elections.
