NC to Unite All Sectors for National Progress: President Thapa
Siraha, Feb 10 — Nepali Congress (NC) President Gagan Thapa has stated that his party is committed to uniting all communities and viewpoints to guide the country toward development and stability.
Addressing a gathering of cadres in Lahan, Siraha, on Tuesday, President Thapa said the NC has taken on the responsibility of accommodating diverse ideas and sectors in the nation-building process, stressing that the party’s role is crucial in steering the country through its current challenges.
He noted that a responsible and inclusive political force like the NC is essential at this time. “The Nepali Congress has moved forward with a renewed vision and determination. The party does not incite division, hatred or conflict. This is a time for unity,” he said, urging the public to support NC candidates in the upcoming election.
Recalling the contributions of late BP Koirala and GP Koirala in establishing peace and democratic values, Thapa said peaceful politics has long been the defining characteristic of the Nepali Congress.
The NC President acknowledged growing public frustration, stating that corruption is widely seen as the root cause of many national problems. “If leaders are honest, corruption can be eliminated,” he remarked, adding that political leaders and parties must seriously address citizens’ grievances to rebuild trust in the political system.
He also cautioned party cadres to remain alert against elements that exploit public anger for political gain. Earlier in the day, Thapa paid tribute by garlanding the statue of Ramesh Mahato, the first martyr of the Madhes movement.
Meanwhile, speaking at another programme in Dharan, President Thapa emphasised the need for strong and immediate actions focused on good governance and controlling corruption.
