HoR Polls in 23 Days: Ballot Printing Completed in 44 Districts

Kathmandu, Feb 10 — With 23 days remaining for the House of Representatives (HoR) elections, the Election Commission (EC) has completed printing ballot papers for 100 constituencies across 44 districts under the first-past-the-post (FPTP) system.

According to the EC, ballot papers have been printed for districts including Dolpa, Mugu, Jumla, Kalikot, Humla, Jajarkot, Dailekh, Rukum Paschim, Salyan, Surkhet, Bajura, Achham, Bajhang, Doti, Dadeldhura, Darchula, Baitadi, Kailali, Kanchanpur, and Panchthar.

Similarly, printing has also been completed for Ilam, Tehrathum, Bhojpur, Okhaldhunga, Sunsari, Taplejung, Sankhuwasabha, Solukhumbu, Khotang, Dhankuta, Baglung, Gulmi, Jhapa, Gorkha, Myagdi, Parbat, Bardaghat Susta Paschim (Nawalparasi), Morang, Udayapur, Mustang, Lamjung, Tanahun, Syangjha, and Bardiya.

EC Assistant Spokesperson Kul Bahadur GC said that as of Monday, 12.256 million FPTP ballot papers have been printed at the Janak Education Materials Centre, Bhaktapur. He added that the packing process is underway, with 10,759 boxes of ballot papers already prepared.

The Commission also informed that ballot printing for the proportional representation (PR) system has already been completed. In total, 20.83 million PR ballots have been printed, packed, registered, and made ready for distribution.

Altogether, 20.323 million ballots are required for the FPTP system. Printing for FPTP ballots began on January 30 and is progressing as scheduled, the EC said.
