Land Revenue Office Chief Jailed, Fined for Contempt of Court
Kathmandu, Feb 9 — The High Court in Janakpur has sentenced Ganesh Prasad Aryal, Chief of the Land Reform and Revenue Office in Dhanusha, to one month in jail and imposed a fine of Rs 5,000 on charges of contempt of court.
The verdict was delivered by a joint bench of Acting Chief Judge Tek Narayan Kunwar and Judge Krishna Prasad Subedi, which found that Aryal had failed to comply with a court order.
In its ruling, the court stated that the office chief had disregarded and violated judicial directives, amounting to contempt. The order also noted that in previous similar cases brought before the court, actions had been taken against officials for contempt for non-compliance with court orders.
The court emphasised that ignoring judicial instructions undermines the authority of the judiciary and warrants strict action.
