House meeting delayed amid ongoing talks
Kathmandu: The scheduled meeting of the House of Representatives at 11 a.m. today has been delayed, as Speaker Devraj Ghimire continues consultations with chief whips from five political parties to build consensus.
The session was set to begin discussions on the Appropriation Bill 2082, including budget allocations for several ministries such as Forest and Environment, Federal Affairs, Energy, Defense, Agriculture, Health, and Law and Justice.
Also on the agenda was the presentation of the Nepal Citizenship (Second Amendment) Bill report by Ramhari Khatiwada, Chair of the State Affairs and Good Governance Committee.
However, lawmakers from the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) and Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) have obstructed proceedings, demanding a probe into the ‘visit visa’ controversy and the resignation of Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak. RSP leaders have vowed to continue their protest until their demands are met.
Tuesday’s meeting was also adjourned due to lack of agreement among parties.
