Vehicles allowed on Tribhuvan Highway in turns

Hetauda: Vehicles will now operate between Hetauda and Kathmandu on the Tribhuvan Highway in turns at scheduled times since the Prithvi Highway and the Kanti Highway have been blocked due to incessant rain.

Chief District Officer Basanta Adhikari informed that the District Administration Office of Makawanpur has set separate times for vehicles going from Hetauda to Kathmandu and from Kathmandu to Hetauda after both highways were blocked and traffic on Tribhuvan Highway increased significantly.

According to him, vehicles will operate today from Chaukikot in Hetauda towards Kathmandu from 10 am to 2 pm, and from Kathmandu towards Hetauda from Simbhanjyang checkpoint from 7pm to 11pm.

On Saturday, vehicles will operate from Hetauda to Kathmandu from 4pm to 8am, and again from 10pm to 2am of September 26.

Similarly, vehicles will operate from Kathmandu to Hetauda on Saturday afternoon from 1pm to 5pm, and on Sunday, September 27, from 7am to 11am, he said.

The district administration has banned trucks and cargo vehicles with over 10-wheel drive and weighing more than 15 tons from operating on Tribhuvan Highway until further notice, except for those carrying fuel and LPG gas.

For passenger buses, only those up to 11 metres in length are allowed to operate. The CDO informed that drivers, transport operators, and passengers are requested to travel only according to the scheduled timetable.
