Westerly system and local winds to bring rain and snowfall in hill and mountain regions today
Kathmandu, May 9: The Weather Forecasting Division has said that the country continues to be influenced by westerly low-pressure systems and local winds, along with a low-pressure area in the lower atmosphere near eastern Nepal.
According to the Division, most hilly and mountainous areas across Madhesh, Bagmati, Gandaki, Koshi, Lumbini, Karnali and Sudurpaschim provinces are generally cloudy, while the Terai region remains partly cloudy.
Moderate rainfall has been recorded in some parts of Koshi, Bagmati and Lumbini provinces. Light rain with thunder and lightning has also occurred in one or two places of Madhesh, Gandaki and Karnali provinces.
For this afternoon, generally cloudy conditions are expected in hilly and mountainous regions, with partly cloudy weather in the Terai. The Division has forecast chances of moderate rain and snowfall with thunder and lightning in some hilly and mountainous areas of Koshi, Bagmati and Gandaki provinces, and at a few places in other provinces. Light rain with thunder and lightning is also possible in one or two locations in the Terai.
Tonight, generally cloudy weather is expected in Koshi, Bagmati and Gandaki provinces, while partly cloudy conditions will prevail in other areas. Moderate rain or snowfall with thunder and lightning is likely in some hilly and mountainous parts of Koshi, Bagmati and Gandaki provinces.
