President calls for linking senior citizens’ experience with new generation

Kathmandu: President Ram Chandra Paudel has said the new generation should be able to benefit from the knowledge and skills of senior citizens in society.

Speaking at the Senior Citizens International Conference organized by the Manmohan Memorial Foundation on Friday, President Paudel said good practices and experiences of senior citizens should be incorporated into education and social interaction.

He also suggested involving active and willing senior citizens in productive work and ensuring their participation in policy-making and community activities.

The President stressed the need for long-term and practical policies for the management and welfare of senior citizens. He noted that Nepal’s population is gradually ageing and said the country can learn from international experiences in managing senior citizens effectively and productively.
