Landslide Blocks Mechi Highway in Ilam

Surunga (Jhapa), March 29: The Mechi Highway has been completely obstructed following a landslide at Bakhor in Rong Rural Municipality-4 of Ilam district on Sunday evening.

According to Chandra Raut, Chief of the Area Police Office in Budhabare, the road has remained blocked since the landslide occurred in the evening. A truck (Pra 1-01-001 Kha 4334) en route to Jhapa from Taplejung is among the vehicles stranded due to the obstruction.

Police confirmed that no human casualties have been reported in the incident. Authorities are currently working to clear the debris and resume traffic along the highway at the earliest.
