Pakistan marks 86th National Day in Kathmandu, reception cancelled over regional situation

Kathmandu, March 23: The Embassy of Pakistan in Kathmandu marked its 86th National Day with a flag hoisting ceremony on Monday, led by Ambassador Abrar H Hashmi.
Messages from Pakistan’s President Asif Ali Zardari, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, and Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar were read out during the event.
In his message, President Zardari stressed unity and the rule of law, calling for stronger democratic institutions, women’s empowerment, and continued efforts to combat terrorism and extremism.

Prime Minister Sharif and Foreign Minister Dar also expressed their best wishes on the occasion.
Addressing the gathering, Ambassador Hashmi congratulated the Pakistani community in Nepal and acknowledged their role in strengthening bilateral ties with Nepal. He also paid tribute to Muhammad Ali Jinnah and the country’s founding leadership.
Citing the ongoing conflict in West Asia, the ambassador announced that the traditional National Day reception would not be held this year, in line with the prime minister’s instructions.
