Outgoing PM Karki returns home after handing over office to PM Shah

Kathmandu, March 27: Former Prime Minister Sushila Karki returned to her private residence in Dhapasi, Kathmandu on Friday, following the swearing-in of the newly appointed Prime Minister Balendra Shah.

Sharing the news on social media, Karki reflected on her tenure, describing it as a “significant chapter of public responsibility.” She noted that she took on the country’s leadership during challenging times and credited collective efforts, coordination, and citizens’ participation for successfully conducting elections.

Expressing satisfaction in transferring leadership to the new government, Karki said she is confident that the energetic next-generation leadership will guide the country towards stability and prosperity. She also thanked Nepali citizens, colleagues, and relevant authorities for their support and cooperation during her tenure.

Karki had assumed office on the night of September 12, following the events of the September 8–9 Gen Z Movement, and oversaw the conduct of elections during a critical period for the country.
