On Air Station:

Prolonged Drought Threatens Winter Crops in Bhojpur

Bhojpur, Feb 16: Farmers in Bhojpur district are facing growing concerns as prolonged drought during the winter season begins to damage their crops. Wheat, barley, potato, and mustard fields are reportedly drying up due to the lack of rainfall.

Beni Bahadur Bista from Bhojpur Municipality-5 expressed the struggles of local farmers, saying, “Protecting winter crops has become increasingly difficult as there has been no rain this season. The crops are already showing signs of drying.” He added that further losses are likely if rainfall does not arrive soon.

The hilly district’s farmers are also grappling with inadequate irrigation, as rivers and streams are drying up and groundwater levels continue to fall. This has made it challenging to supply sufficient water to the fields.

Agriculture Knowledge Centre officials confirmed that the drought’s effects are already visible and advised farmers to explore alternative irrigation methods wherever feasible. Farmers fear that winter crop production may see a significant decline this year if the dry spell continues.
