PM Karki directs fearless, fair and peaceful elections
Taplejung: Prime Minister Sushila Karki has directed authorities to conduct the upcoming election in a fearless, peaceful, fair and rigging-free manner.
The Prime Minister reached Taplejung this morning and discussed election preparations, security arrangements and geographical challenges with local stakeholders.

Briefing the District Security Committee and election officials, Prime Minister Karki instructed the Chief Election Officer and security agencies to ensure voting on March 5 takes place without fear, pressure or influence.
She said similar conditions exist in mountainous and hilly districts and called for special attention to voter security. The Prime Minister also stressed that there should be no compromise on security at polling stations in the Himalayan region and directed officials to deploy additional security personnel if required.
Chief District Officer Shivaraj Sedhai informed the Prime Minister about the district’s security situation, polling station conditions and accessibility. Of the 80 polling stations in Taplejung, 28 are classified as highly sensitive, 25 as sensitive and 27 as general.

Earlier, Prime Minister Karki offered prayers at the Pathibhara shrine. In a social media message, she said she prayed for a peaceful election as the election month begins.
