Writers’ Association Urges Nepali Congress to Adopt Peace-Focused Code of Conduct

Kathmandu, Nov 22: The Nepali Writers’ Association has submitted an 11-point memorandum to Nepali Congress (NC) Acting President Purna Bahadur Khadka, recommending that the party include peace as a core element of its code of conduct.

The Association emphasized the need for the NC to promote discipline, diligence, honesty, and frugality among its leaders and cadres, proposing a revised code of conduct aimed at reforming the party’s organizational practices.

Association Secretary Narayan Sapkota said the memorandum also reminded the NC of its responsibility to safeguard the constitution, while remaining open to necessary amendments. He stressed that the party’s active role is vital in strengthening the federal democratic republic.

The Association further called for academic study and research to be kept free from political interference, noting that Nepal needs stronger support for research, innovation, and scientific advancement. Political influence in sensitive sectors such as academia, the judiciary, and public administration, the Association said, must be discouraged.
