Simara Clash: Gen-Z Activists and Bara Administration Reach Deal for Fair Investigation

Bara, Nov 21: The Bara District Administration and representatives of the Gen-Z movement have agreed to conduct an impartial investigation into the recent Simara clash, which had left the region tense for two days. The agreement was reached during a dialogue held on Friday at the Armed Police Force’s Technical Training Institute in Pathlaiya.

Chief District Officer Dharmendra Kumar Mishra said the two sides signed a three-point agreement, which includes ensuring the safety of Gen-Z youths, coordinating the treatment of those injured in the Simara confrontation, and carrying out a fair and transparent probe into the incident.

Gen-Z representatives Sudan Gurung, Purushottam Yadav, and Samrat Upadhyay, along with Simara Sub-Metropolitan City Mayor Rajan Paudel, took part in the talks. From the administration’s side, the CDO and heads of district security agencies participated.

Simara witnessed heightened tensions on Wednesday after a violent clash between CPN-UML cadres and Gen-Z protesters. According to the CDO, three individuals have been taken into custody based on complaints filed by Gen-Z activists.

The district had remained on edge, leading authorities to impose curfews on Wednesday and Thursday. Gen-Z protesters allege that UML supporters assaulted several of their members, which further escalated demonstrations in the area.
