Nepal Dialogue Summit 2025 Concludes with Kathmandu Declaration

Kathmandu, Nov 22: The Nepal Dialogue Summit 2025, jointly organized by 46 organizations, concluded in the federal capital on Friday, issuing the Kathmandu Declaration to promote peace and dialogue in the country.

The declaration emphasized that lasting peace is vital for Nepal, particularly in the wake of the Gen Z protests on September 8–9. “Dialogue is a creative process that can transform differences and disputes into opportunities. The summit provides a common ground to address conflicts constructively,” it stated.

According to the declaration, dialogues help foster compassion, tolerance, patience, respect for dissenting voices, and cultural understanding. The event urged all stakeholders, including dissenting groups, to prioritize truth and public interest in discussions.

It also highlighted the importance of dialogue and mediation as tools to advance negotiations, suggesting that new legal frameworks could be developed to better engage negotiators. The declaration further called on all institutions to work toward peace, good governance, and protection of citizens’ rights, where tolerance and justice are upheld.

The summit was inaugurated by UNDP Resident Representative Hanaa Hamdy Singer, and the keynote address was delivered by diplomat Dr. Shambhuram Simkhada, who stressed that continuous conversation is essential for sustaining democracy.

The Kathmandu Declaration formally reinforces the dialogue process as a key mechanism for maintaining peace and stability in Nepal.
