Bhotekoshi Flood: 3,071 People Still Unaccounted for in Rasuwa

Rasuwa, Sept 6: The devastating flood in the Bhotekoshi River, originating from the Nepal-China border area, has caused significant loss of life and property in Rasuwa, with thousands of people still unaccounted for.

According to Dhruv Prasad Adhikari, Assistant Chief District Officer and Information Officer, 1,313 people have been rescued alive so far, including 1,227 Nepali citizens and 86 foreign tourists. The rescue operations have been carried out jointly by security personnel and residents.

Meanwhile, 145 pilgrims and residents stranded in the Gosainkund area have been evacuated by helicopter and taken to safety in Nuwakot and Kathmandu.

Despite ongoing search and rescue efforts, 3,071 people remain unaccounted for in the district. They include 27 Nepali Army personnel, 28 Nepal Police personnel and 13 Armed Police Force personnel.

Similarly, 79 government employees and 26 employees of banks and financial institutions are among those still out of contact.

The district administration said 1,370 residents of Rasuwa and 1,262 foreign tourists who had arrived in Rasuwa from other districts are also still missing.

Search and rescue operations are continuing in the flood- and landslide-affected areas, with security agencies and residents engaged in efforts to locate those still unaccounted for.
