Nepali Kickboxer Abiral Ghimire Crowned World Champion

Kathmandu, Sept. 6: Nepali kickboxer Abiral Ghimire has clinched the world championship title after defeating reigning world champion Mathon Choinard of France in the main event of the Hit Kick Boxing – 59th International Sports Kick Boxing Federation World Championship in Nagoya, Japan.

The championship bout was held Saturday at Kariya Hall, where Ghimire produced a stunning performance against Choinard, who had held the world title since 2025.

Ghimire sealed the victory with a powerful knockout in the second minute of the second round, adding another major achievement to his international career.

With 29 international bouts under his belt, Ghimire has now recorded 21 victories, including 20 wins by knockout, making him one of Nepal’s most successful kickboxers on the international stage.

Popularly known as the “Himalayan Cheetah,” Ghimire has earned recognition for representing Nepal in international kickboxing competitions and raising the country’s profile in the sport.

Speaking to the National News Agency after his victory, Ghimire expressed condolences over the loss of lives in the recent devastating Bhotekoshi floods in Rasuwa. He also pledged to support and assist the flood victims.
