Bear Attack Kills Eight Sheep in Jumla
Jumla, June 2: Eight sheep have been killed in a bear attack at Thambada village of Guthichaur Rural Municipality-4 in Jumla district.
According to Information Officer at the District Police Office, Shalikram Khanal, the wild animal entered a livestock enclosure during the night and attacked the sheep.
Local farmer Kishan Adhikari said five more sheep have gone missing since the incident on Monday. He added that the loss is significant, as each sheep is valued at around Rs 18,000.
Livestock farming remains a key source of income for many households in Nepal’s hilly and mountainous regions, where wildlife attacks on livestock are occasionally reported.
