‘Border Interaction Team’ mobilized at Gauriphanta border crossing

Sudurpaschim: A Border Interaction Team (BIT) has been mobilised at the Gauriphanta border crossing of Kailali-Kanchanpur to make security arrangements at the Nepal-India border area more effective.

Deputy Inspector General of Armed Police Digvijay Subedi announced the mobilisation of the Border Interaction Team at a programme organised at the Gauriphanta border crossing in Punarbas Municipality-11, Dokebazar, Kanchanpur today.

Armed Police Inspector General of Police Narayan Dutta Poudel said that the BIT has been mobilised at the border transit as per the plan to make border security more effective and maintain a balance between strict security and easy mobility at the border crossing, while increasing direct coordination with the citizens.

According to him, it is expected that the plain-clothed team will help in controlling criminal activities in the border area, collecting necessary information and making information exchange more effective.

Since citizens moving through the border checkpoints can easily contact the plainclothes teams rather than uniformed security personnel, this concept will be useful in obtaining security-related information and expanding the relationship of trust with the citizens.

The Armed Police Force stated that it has advanced a strategy to make border security management more effective, citizen-friendly and information-based by mobilising such teams at border entry points. Currently, work has been started in six different districts of the country, including the Gaurifanta checkpoint.
