Chinese Embassy announces fully funded master’s scholarship for Nepali professionals

November 28, Kathmandu: The Chinese Embassy in Nepal, in a Facebook post, has issued a public call for applications for the prestigious Chinese Government Scholarship—Youth of Excellence Scheme of China (YES-China) Master Program, designed to cultivate high-level talent in global governance and public administration.

The scholarship, which targets working professionals and future leaders, provides full financial support for students to pursue Master’s degrees at elite Chinese universities. The application deadline for the program is March 31, 2026.

Full Scholarship Coverage and Duration

The YES-China program is a highly competitive full scholarship, typically covering:

  • Full tuition waiver and registration fees.
  • On-campus accommodation or a living subsidy.
  • A monthly living stipend (CNY 3,000 per month for Master’s students).
  • Comprehensive medical insurance.
  • Round-trip international airfare.

Most programs operate on a “1+1” model, requiring one year of full-time course study and research in China, followed by the second year dedicated to thesis writing in the student’s home country, based on their professional work experience. Students must return to China for the final dissertation defence. All courses are taught in English.

  2. Academic Standing: Hold a Bachelor’s degree or higher.
  3. Work Experience: Have a minimum of three years of work experience.
