Oli and Lekhak released on condition
Kathmandu: CPN-UML Chairman and former Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli and Nepali Congress leader and former Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak have been released today.
Both were arrested in connection with the implementation of the Gauri Bahadur Karki-led Probe Commission’s recommendations on the Gen Z movement. Police said they have been released on the condition that they cooperate with the ongoing investigation.
According to District Police Range Kathmandu, Oli has been handed over to his family at Tribhuvan University Teaching Hospital, where he is undergoing treatment. His further care will be decided based on his health condition.
Lekhak has been handed over to his wife, Yashoda Lekhak, after 13 days in custody. Police said he has agreed to appear whenever required for investigation.
The Supreme Court had earlier directed authorities to complete the investigation by today or release them under conditions.
