Lawmakers urge government to fulfil agreements with Gen Z injured and victims

Kathmandu: Lawmakers have urged the government to take seriously the implementation of agreements reached with the families of those killed and injured during the Gen Z uprising.

Speaking at today’s meeting of the House of Representatives, lawmakers said the movement was driven by public frustration and dissatisfaction with the then government and sought broader changes in governance, political culture and accountability.

They said the government formed following the movement should work seriously to address the demands of the victims and their families.

Lawmakers also called for faster search and rescue efforts for people missing in the Bhotekoshi floods, saying the operation has not gained sufficient momentum.

They urged the government to address concerns over the safety, health and privacy of women and children staying in holding centres.

The government was also asked to expedite relief and rehabilitation, restore disrupted connectivity, including the Kathmandu–Nuwakot and Nuwakot–Rasuwa routes, and address the shortage of cooking gas.
