Government conducting survey to arrange temporary housing for flood victims

Kathmandu: The government is conducting a survey to arrange temporary accommodation for families affected by the Bhotekoshi floods who are currently staying in holding centres.

The Prime Minister’s Secretariat said the survey aims to arrange separate temporary housing for each family within a few weeks, based on their needs and preferences.

Teams from the Department of Urban Development and Building Construction have been conducting the survey in affected districts using a digital Needs Assessment Form.

The survey collects details on household members, the extent of damage to houses, deceased or missing family members, and whether families prefer temporary shelter or rented accommodation with government support.

It also assesses land availability, possible relocation sites, water and sanitation facilities and other needs.

The government aims to complete the survey within a week. A similar survey will then be conducted among affected families living outside the holding centres.
