Flash flood risk continues in Bhotekoshi and Trishuli river systems

Kathmandu: The Flood Forecasting Division has warned of a continued risk of flash floods in the Bhotekoshi and Trishuli river systems today.

Flood expert Saraswati Bista said water levels in the Bhotekoshi, Trishuli and nearby rivers are likely to rise due to ongoing rainfall and the possibility of further rain in the upstream areas of Bhotekoshi in Rasuwa.

The Division has urged residents living along riverbanks in Rasuwa and Nuwakot to remain highly alert.

Moderate flash floods are also possible in rivers and streams in several districts, including Taplejung, Panchthar, Sankhuwasabha, Dolakha, Ramechhap, Sindhupalchok, Kavrepalanchok, Dhading, Chitwan, Gorkha, Kaski, Myagdi and Dolpa.

The Division has also warned that water levels in smaller rivers and streams in parts of western and far-western Nepal could rise significantly.

It has advised people living near rivers and those travelling along riverbanks to remain alert to the possibility of sudden flooding.  Death toll from flash floods in Rasuwa and surrounding districts reaches 1 thousand 2 hundred and 52 bodies, search for 4 thousand 8 hundred and 75 missing people is continuing
