Bangladesh extends $1 million financial assistance to Nepal for flood relief

KATHMANDU, Sept 3: The Government of Bangladesh has pledged USD 1 million (~NPR 152 million / 12.3 crore BDT) to Nepal’s Prime Minister’s Disaster Relief Fund to support search, recovery, and humanitarian operations following severe flash floods and landslides in northern Nepal.
State Minister for Foreign Affairs Humaiun Kobir conveyed the assistance package to Nepal’s Ambassador to Bangladesh, Ghanshyam Bhandari, while delivering a formal letter from Prime Minister Tarique Rahman addressed to Prime Minister Balendra Shah.
The contribution follows earlier diplomatic condolences, including a condolence motion adopted by the Bangladesh Jatiya Sangsad on August 27 and a telephone conversation between Foreign Minister Dr. Khalilur Rahman and Foreign Minister Shisir Khanal to establish support modalities.
