Heavy Rain Likely in Several Provinces as Monsoon Remains Active

Kathmandu, Aug. 2: The influence of the Monsoon continues across Nepal, with the Meteorological Forecasting Division warning of heavy rainfall in parts of several provinces and urging the public to remain alert.

According to the Division, the Monsoon low-pressure line is currently positioned close to its average location, keeping weather conditions unstable across the country. Light to moderate rainfall is occurring in many areas, while heavy rain is likely at isolated places in the hilly districts of Koshi, Bagmati, Gandaki, Lumbini and Karnali provinces.

The weather office has also forecast moderate rainfall accompanied by possible snowfall in some Himalayan areas.

During the night, skies are expected to remain generally cloudy, with light to moderate rain continuing in parts of the hills and plains. Isolated locations in the Himalayan, hilly and Terai regions of Koshi, Bagmati and Gandaki provinces, as well as parts of Lumbini Province, could experience heavy to very heavy rainfall.

The department has cautioned that intense rainfall may trigger landslides, flash floods and soil erosion in vulnerable areas. It warned that the weather could affect daily life, agriculture, public health, tourism and transportation, and urged people to stay updated with official weather forecasts and take necessary precautions.
