Highways blocked after monsoon-induced disasters in districts
Kathmandu: Vehicular movement has been affected along the major highways and road sections in different districts following torrential rain, landslides and flooding.
The Nepal Police said some highways have been completely obstructed, while traffic has been restricted on some other road sections during the nighttime, citing road obstructions.
Vehicular movement has been completely halted at Ilam Municipality-9 along the Mechi Highway due to a muddy road caused by rainfall.
The Araniko Highway has been completely blocked following landslides at Jirokilo and Kodari in Bhotekoshi Rural Municipality, Sindhupalchowk district.
Similarly, the Lamosanghu-Ramechhap road section has been obstructed due to inundation at Kirnetar in Tamakoshi Rural Municipality-5, Dolakha.
The Pasang Lhyamu Highway at Uttargaya Rural Municipality-5 in Rasuwa district has also been completely blocked after flooding in the Trishuli River.
According to Nepal Police, a dry landslide at Bagmati Rural Municipality in Lalitpur district has also disrupted vehicular movement along the Kanti Highway.
Likewise, the Bhimphedi-Kulekhani-Kathmandu road section was completely blocked after a landslide near Mahalaxmikhola (river) in Indrasarovar Rural Municipality, Makawanpur district.
The Jajarkot-Dolpa road section has also been blocked following flooding in the Mulpanikhola (river), the Nepal Police stated in a bulletin issued this morning.
Vehicular movement along the Beni-Jomsom road section was obstructed after the landslides occurred this morning in Sukebagar and Raghuganga areas of Myagdi district. RSS
