On Air Station:

‘Iran may launch surprise missile and drone attacks on Israel and Gulf states amid ceasefire talks’

May 22, Kathmandu: Israel says it is concerned that Iran could launch a sudden missile and drone attack targeting both Israel and Gulf countries as indirect ceasefire talks continue between Washington and Tehran.

According to reports published by the Jerusalem Post, senior Israeli defence officials discussed the possibility during a high-level security assessment led by Defence Minister Israel Katz.

Israeli security officials believe Tehran may attempt to strike before diplomatic efforts fail completely and before the United States and Israel move toward stronger military action. Reports say Israeli authorities have increased their level of alert and intensified monitoring of Iranian military movements across the region.

The Israeli Air Force and the Israel Defence Forces Operations Directorate have reportedly expanded coordination with American military officials, focusing on intelligence-sharing and operational readiness. Israel’s missile defence systems are also believed to be on heightened preparedness amid fears of a large-scale aerial assault involving drones and ballistic missiles.

Israeli military chief Lieutenant General Eyal Zamir has held consultations with commanders on both defensive and offensive scenarios and remains in close contact with US military counterparts regarding a possible coordinated response if Iran launches an attack.

Recent joint military reviews between the United States and Israel have reportedly strengthened missile interception systems, technological integration and rapid-response capabilities. Reports also indicate that US military shipments to Israel have increased in recent weeks as tensions in the Middle East continue to rise.

US President Donald Trump has maintained a strong stance against Iran’s nuclear programme, stating that Washington will not allow Tehran to obtain nuclear weapons capability. Israel has repeatedly argued that Iran’s expanding nuclear activities and support for armed proxy groups pose a direct threat not only to Israel but also to broader regional stability.
