HoR Polls 2026: President, Vice President abstain from voting to maintain constitutional neutrality

Kathmandu, March 5: President Ramchandra Paudel and Vice-President Ram Sahaya Prasad Yadav did not cast their votes in today’s House of Representatives (HoR) elections, citing their constitutional roles.

According to President’s Press Advisor Kiran Pokhrel, the Head of State chose not to participate in the election in his capacity as the patron of the Constitution and guardian of the nation. Prior to assuming office, President Paudel used to vote from Satyawati Secondary School polling centre in Vyas Municipality, Tanahu.

Similarly, Vice-President Yadav also refrained from voting to maintain constitutional neutrality, his Press Advisor Dinesh Yadav said. In the previous election, he had cast his ballot from the Basabariya polling centre in Bara.
