KMC’s ‘Carpooling’ initiative comes into action
Kathmandu: The Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) has brought into implementation the ‘carpooling’ – an initiative of sharing vehicles on a rotational basis while coming to and going from the office.

KMC’s acting mayor Sunita Dangol informed that a system of operating available vehicles alternately has been implemented to manage the current fuel crisis. Dangol shared that the decision was made to avert potential problems that could arise from fuel shortage.
Acting Mayor Dangol said, “There is a worldwide shortage of fuel at present. If vehicles are operated as usual, even the fuel required for essential work and services may not be available. To address such a situation, it is indispensable to reduce fuel consumption. The carpooling initiative is thus implemented to avoid potential fuel-related issues.”
In the ‘carpooling’ initiative, groups of officials coming from the same area have been formed based on their residential locations. Those in the group will operate their vehicles on a rotation basis for nearby officials.
According to Dangol, the initiative will reduce the number of vehicles coming to and going from the office and fuel consumption patterns.
