Eight killed, four critically injured in Ramechhap bus accident
Ramechhap: Eight people have been killed and four others are in critical condition after a passenger bus crashed in Manthali Municipality of Ramechhap district on Monday.
The accident occurred at Masane Tar, Ward No. 6, at around 11 a.m., when a bus traveling from Kathmandu to Okhaldhunga plunged about 50 meters off the road into the Tamakoshi River.
Chief District Officer Shyam Krishna Thapa said the critically injured have been taken to Manthali Hospital, while other injured passengers were referred to Dhulikhel, Tamakoshi, and Khurkot hospitals for treatment.
Police said the bus, bearing registration number Province 3-01-005 Kha 9975, sank in the middle of the river. Rescue operations are ongoing, with divers deployed at the scene.
Deputy Superintendent of Police Bhola Bhatta said the exact number of passengers on board is not yet known. However, the bus driver told police there were more than 20 passengers. The driver is reported to be in stable condition.
