PM directs security forces to remain vigilant for election security

Kathmandu: Prime Minister Sushila Karki has directed all security agencies to remain fully vigilant and ensure that there are no lapses in election security.

Addressing a coordination meeting of heads of security agencies at the Army Headquarters in Jangi Adda on the eve of Mahashivaratri and Army Day, the Prime Minister said past elections had seen gaps in coordination and stressed that such weaknesses must not be repeated.

She instructed security agencies to work in close coordination, taking into account security sensitivity, lessons from previous elections, and the specific challenges of the upcoming polls to ensure a safe election environment.

Prime Minister Karki expressed confidence that the Nepal Army would carry out its duties effectively in line with the government-approved Integrated Security Plan for the House of Representatives election. She also directed concerned bodies to create an environment where all political parties can conduct their activities freely and safely.

The meeting was attended by senior Nepal Army officials and was chaired by Chief of Army Staff Ashok Raj Sigdel, who briefed participants on the overall security situation. According to the Military Information and Public Relations Directorate, participants will review security conditions in their respective areas and discuss current issues.
