Supreme Court Refuses Interim Order in Resham Chaudhary Case
Kathmandu, Feb 8 — The Supreme Court has declined to issue an interim order in a writ petition filed by Resham Lal Chaudhary, patron of the Nagarik Unmukti Party Nepal.
A division bench comprising Justices Saranga Subedi and Tek Prasad Dhungana decided on Sunday following a hearing on the petition.
Chaudhary had approached the apex court seeking permission to contest the March 5 election to the House of Representatives from Kailali constituency No. 1. He filed the writ after the election officer of the constituency invalidated his candidacy.
In its order, the Supreme Court stated that the interpretation of relevant constitutional and legal provisions would be addressed during the final hearing of the case, and therefore found no adequate grounds to issue an interim order at this stage.
The Court has directed that the writ petition proceed to a full hearing.
